chest first

limbs lag behind

passing                        more like pushing

trudging through   a   thick   dense  fog

your  body drags                   off balance

as if trying to run in a dream

a      force      repels       and      attracts

                               field

engulfed into darkness                                 veiled by a vast void

endlessness     surrounds          you

an unreachable expanse

sinking slightly into the ground beneath you

moist soil layered with mulch and mosses

deep               rich                   earthy               scent

                           damp feathered bark and petrichor

my body standing

a soft glow radiating from my throat

gently illuminating

outlines

ridges

an arm outstretched

i take you by the hand

roots begin to form and emerge from the pores of my skin

growing out from my bones reaching for the soil beneath us

searching

for something tangible to cling to

they unfurl in different directions

crack as they slither

gnarled and groaning

contorting as they extend

our scale fluctuates

oscillating variations

we shiver

tremble through the shift

in our settled form

you sit in my cupped hands

i bring you to my lips

the faint warmth of my breath

  satin

flows from my nostrils

pouring down the indentation of my philtrum

 cascading

a rain of arrows arching from my cupid's bow

tender labial cushions

a purse of tensile tissue

silken flesh bolsters ribbed by plumpen vesicles

they open for you

 s l i g h t l y   p a r t e d  w i t h  p a t i e n c e

you peer inside to reveal my monstrous tongue

placid and waiting

you tentatively tread the fuzzy bulbous buds

that coat the surface of my upper tongue

caged by a border of calcified enamel bricks

timestamped by their striations

forking veins and gelatinous nodules

emblazon the arched vault of my nave

the gritty scratch of friction as the head of a match struck

a hissing splutter as it bursts to life

i set you alight

your body ignites

a blaze that lights up the cavities

folds

 crevasses

an emergency flare

swallowed by these walls

you smoulder in a comforting heat

float mid air

your fumes i inhale

disintegrate to conscious fragments

pulling smoke deep into my lungs

your ashy residue a sooty pile on my tongue

i taste your particles

with each exhale there rises a tremor

you descend the canal

follow the hum

resonating from the vertical drop

ahead

tracing the wave of vibrations

pulsating amber light

petrified molten amorphous mass

throbbing

shimmering

 beating

a hornets nest melded to the rafters

buzzing light particles trapped inside

glimmer reflections

paralysing in its preservation
